CT-PSP’s Alternatives Programming is rooted in the belief that communities deserve responses to harm that are healing, not punitive. We invest in programs that empower justice-impacted people, reduce the harms of incarceration, and build capacity to organize against carceral systems. These programs are part of our broader vision to dismantle harmful systems and replace them with community-based solutions that center healing, dignity, and self-determination—whether someone is behind bars or building a new life outside of them.
The Prison Organizing Committee is a statewide coalition of grassroots organizations, formerly incarcerated people, family members, and community advocates working together to advance justice for people impacted by incarceration. Through coordinated campaigns, public education, advocacy, and collective action, the committee organizes outside of prisons to challenge harmful policies, improve conditions for incarcerated people, and strengthen support for successful reentry. By bringing together organizations and directly impacted communities across Connecticut, we build collective power to advance systemic change and create a more just and accountable criminal legal system.
